|Position description||We are in an exciting period of growth and we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team, contributing to the development of new and existing sensors. The role will be very much "hands on" as part of a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary and dynamic team and will be crucial to bringing our current ideas through from initial prototype to final production release. We are working on a new suite of sensors to respond to the increasing demand for situational awareness sensors and autonomous operations at sea; our customer’s ultimate success depends on our ability to solve these cutting-edge problems.|
•Deliver “smarter” sensor solutions for vessel control systems and situation awareness.
•Build and deploy expertise in sensor data analysis.
•Work cross-functionally to execute functional testing, system integration and performance validation on new products in automated simulation and in vessel trials.
•Develop working relationships with customer engineering teams, and internal operations, sales, business development and service teams.
•Maintain and develop existing sensor code.
•Expertise in software design and architecture at product level in the context of a robotics or control application from proposal to delivery.
•Extensive use of modelling and data analysis techniques to gain insight and drive algorithm development for multi-sensor applications.
•Proven capacity to negotiate with stakeholders and manage expectations in a multidisciplinary environment (sales/marketing, finance, production, electronics).
•Proficiency in source control, C#/C++ and a scripting language.
•Understanding of position measurement sensors and autonomous navigation (SLAM and in general Bayesian filtering/inference).
•Understanding of embedded systems constraints.
•Worked in an Agile development team (source control, continuous integration, test driven development).
•Experience with Subversion, Jenkins, JIRA, VisualStudio, Matlab development stack.
•Object oriented design patterns.
•Exposure to electronics design or FPGA design.
•Willing to occasionally travel to test sites (onshore) or on vessels for sea trials (offshore).
•Qualified to MSc degree level or equivalent experience in a Software related area (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Control engineering, Robotics).
