The Market Intelligence manager helps our leaders with the right data and the right actionable insights to navigate major decisions towards growth.

Agile Market Intelligence enables strategic, tactical, and operational decision-makers to be more flexible and more responsive to the fast pace of changes to business and regulatory requirements. We need to adopt multiple best practices and next-generation technologies to make Market Intelligence more flexible.

The purpose of this position is to internally increase new market and new business understanding, especially by monitoring new technology trends and new business models to increase business.

Position description Purpose of Market Intelligence in Marine Solutions:
The purpose of Wärtsilä Intelligence is to facilitate global growth of Wärtsilä’s businesses by providing different levels of needed information, insights and foresight on current and future business environment in an actionable format for utilization in strategic planning and in operational activities.

The main focus of this role is on supporting the transition towards a Smart Marine company with making the unknown known.

Location: Helsinki, Finland

Primary location is Helsinki but other locations can be considered.
Responsibilities • Market and Trend watching:
o Support Strategy and long term business planning with providing market information/insights
o Identifying new entrants to the Marine Market (both established and start-ups)
o Identifying new and transformed business models
o Identifying customer needs (what they need) and their jobs to be done (why they need it), contributing to identifying new solutions for our customers, increasing their operational excellence
o Generating insights on emerging industry trends, mega trends and small signals in the market (data gathering, news monitoring and analysis)
o Increase understanding of the Marine Ecosystem and identify potential value creation for Wärtsilä Marine Solutions

• Internally:
o Stakeholder management and their need identification
o Project management activities (prioritize, plan, and track project progress)
o Collaboration with other internal domains in developing new tools, dashboards (IM, Sales Operational Development), telling the story to the market (Marketing)
Requirements o Digital Evangelist - Excellent understanding of the digital business landscape
o Experience with relevant tools such as:
o Customer Relationship Management, preferably Salesforce
o Data visualization tools, like Power BI and Qlik View/Qlik Sense
o MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
o Marketing analytics and social listening;
o Analytical mind-set and ability to search, collect and process information from different internal and external sources
o Identifying big and small signals in the market
o Innovation and trend watching skills (forecasting, scenario’s)
o Excellent communication skills (including report writing and presentation skills), especially in English and comfortable working in a multinational, multicultural, often virtual environment

• Team player with positive can-do attitude and appetite to continuously learn and develop. Comfortable to network within Wärtsilä organisation and outside of it
• Passion for Customer Service
• Fluent communication in English (spoken and written)
• Very good ability to work independent and be self-motivated, with a good sense for when to ask for help an consultation
• Project management, experience with working in agile mode

o Master degree Economics, Business Administration, Innovation, or similar
o 5+ years working experience in market analysis, innovation, consulting, business finance or related work in the industry is considered as an advantage. Experience in marine industry is also a prerequisite
