The Safety & Quality Engineer will visit to our customer installations during our field service jobs to support our service teams in improving the safety of our teams and the quality of our work at our customer installations. The goal is to reduce the safety and quality risks around our employees working at our customer installations. Customer installations include ships, offshore oil & gas installations, and power plants. Safety & Quality Engineer will recommend and implement safety & quality improvements in regards to:
1) customer equipment operations & maintenance
2) performance of the work of our service teams
3) Wartsila workshops
Maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies, regulations, and company safety processes.
Review plans and specifications of field service equipment to make sure that they meet safety & quality requirements.
Conduct site visits and evaluate our personal safety procedures and practices, provide training as needed.
Identify, report, and recommend improvements for potential safety and quality issues by inspecting customers installations, marine and power generation.
As needed, meets with customers to explain improvements needed at customer installations together with sales team.
Evaluate the effectiveness of various safety & quality processes in place.
Assist with investigations of accidents related to field service and workshops and ensure collaboration with department managers, and that lessons learned are shared with customers & other stakeholders.
Assist with the training & promotion of programs like DuPont, WeCare, JSA, Medical evaluations, and Safety Flashes.
To implement Health and Safety Procedures as per Wärtsilä QEHS Management System.
To maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences.
Develop and implement solutions for emergency preparedness plans for site.
Attend meetings, progress meetings with, contractors and other relevant meetings as required.
Check / inspect if necessary personal protective equipment’s are made available to individual employees as required.

Good Decisiveness and action orientation BS degree + 5 year of related experience, or AS degree and 5 years of experience, or High School Diploma /Technical / Vocational school (preferably Marine, Mechanical or USCG) + 10 years of experience
+10 years hands-on experience with rotating equipment or auxiliary systems (such as large bore diesel engines, vessel propulsion systems, power plant automation systems)
Previous Experience +10 years hands-on experience with rotating equipment or auxiliary systems (such as large bore diesel engines, vessel propulsion systems, power plant automation systems)
Familiar with marine and engine room configurations.
Experience with extensive travel.
Has customer relations experience.
Marine or Power Plant Safety experience
