Wärtsilä Services Area South-Europe and Africa is looking for Director, Services Unit East Africa to be based in Cape Town, South-Africa. Director, SUEAfrica is a member of the Services Area SEAF management team and he/she will report to the Vice President, Area South-Europe and Africa.
The duty of the Services Unit Director is to plan and execute the Services business strategy in East- and South Africa in cooperation with Services Area colleagues, Energy Solutions, Marine Solutions and Product Lines in Services, other Areas and Services support organisations. He/she leads and manages the Services Unit in achieving operational and strategic goals in line with customer needs.
You implement Services growth strategy and global and local development programs by leading, managing, developing and delivering services, including setting targets, providing structure, leadership and coaching.
You are experienced in driving the short-term (annual) action planning process and a system for progress follow-up and reporting. It is of importance to develop and maintain high performing culture and competences as well as other assets on short and long term in line with customer needs.

One of your additional roles would be to the Managing Director of the legal entities in the geographical area.
Also, we trust that ensuring proper implementation of Services Guidelines and other agreed priorities in the Services Unit go without saying.
Services Unit Director needs to hold relevant academic degree and have strong track record from customer interface and leadership roles also in demanding, multicultural leadership environment.
Having a proven track record of business results is a must. Previous solid experience leading a Service organisation is considered a major advantage in being successful in this role.
You must have strong leadership and people development skills in order to lead this engaged, highly reputable and forward-thinking workforce in East & South Africa. Leading through a team approach is self-evident to you and you lead through empowering and involvement to boost the team spirit, including experience of leading teams in remote locations. The strong communication skills you possess make you an approachable person with mature and constructive approach. You have an excellent ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with peers and stakeholders.
Customer focus and service mind-set also in tough situations is natural to you and the business, market and customer understanding enables you to create and develop customer relationships with long term thinking.
You possess capabilities for strategic, tactical and operational planning, target setting and follow-up. You are fluent in both spoken and written English and as we do, see French or Portuguese as an advantage.
MSc level or equivalent knowledge gained through experience is required.
Successful appointment requires the applicant to either have a valid work permit in South-Africa or be successful in obtaining a work permit of South-Africa within three months of the appointment.
