Cost Accountant

Job description: The Valmet Finance is looking for a qualified Cost Accountant to compile, develop, maintain and analyze financial data and reports and to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This individual will also act as a business partner with local management to meet targets set. This position is responsible for cost accounting at either the Aiken, SC or Neenah, WI locations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•Work to facilitate internal control initiatives complying o company policies
•Approach job duties with Lean Process Improvement mindset
•Identify and recommend cost effective solutions - systems and procedures applicable to the Cost Accounting functions
•Work effectively in a shared services accounting environment
•Business partner with local management providing financial input
•Understanding Networking Capital model
•Important role in inventory accuracy related to cycle counts, adjustments, and root cause analysis
•Assist in month end and yearend closing processes – following company requirements and deadlines
•Perform fixed asset functions
•Assist controller and auditors in yearly financial audit.
•Prepare yearly financial budgets
•Calculate projected capacity by location work-center for man and machine hours to determine labor, machine, and overhead rates.
•Prepare and update quarterly estimates versus plan – revenue / cost inputs
•Coordinate monthly review for capacity costs - expense vs budget analysis reports.
•Participate in location payroll process.
•Review accounts payable entries for accuracy and budget compliance.
•Compile and remit sales data to corporate office for sales and use tax analysis.
•Responsible for the analysis of all variances, gross margin, gross profit, operating profit inputs.
•Prepare and perform standard cost updates.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from four-year College or University in Business/Accounting. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project and Cost accounting. Familiar with industrial or manufacturing environment a plus. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel with additional knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of ERP systems (BAAN would be an asset) with vast knowledge and understanding of the various elements of the Accounting Cycle (revenue, procurement, etc.).
