A primary function of this job is to effectively and efficiently lead a Board and Paper Mills’ capital sales project and act as the main contact to customer. The successful candidate will maintain a pipeline of opportunities within North America including outstanding quotes and future opportunities.
The more detailed responsibilities include reviewing of customer inquiries, possible needed interpreting of customer specifications, and assisting with developing a price indication or a detailed proposal.
Responsibilities include reviewing the proposal to assure our offering will meet customer requirements and answering process and technical questions initiated by customers, vendors, mechanical, and project engineering teams related to the design. The Capital Sales Manager will also assist with pricing strategy to maximize gross margin for each project, while providing the best opportunity to win.
One of the most important tasks of the successful candidate is to follow up with customers to receive feedback concerning the ongoing development of Valmet’s offering, as well as acquire information about customer’s proceeding with their project development. Capital Sales Manager will coordinate discussions with our internal support team, as necessary.
Sales Manager will proactively contact target customers to qualify their interest and involvement with the type of equipment we offer. He or she will schedule face to face meetings with selected customers to determine their needs and provide them with information about our products and services. From these technical meetings, the sales manager will report the leads generated, customer contacts, competitor activity, and the overall value of the event for our company
Working in concert with Valmet application engineer and technology managers will be the key to success in this role.
Reporting clearly and concisely on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to the Business Manager, Board and Paper Mills, NA is an important part of this job.
To be successful in this role, in-depth knowledge of our products and services is one of the key requirements. Excellent presentation and communication skills are needed to effectively communicate with customers as well as the Valmet sales team. The successful candidate will also have the ability to quickly identify viable leads and potential opportunities. The person will pay attention to details and commit to consistently following through with customers and fellow employees.

• A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in education.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience selling capital equipment
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time
