Tampere School of Architecture is a pioneer in architectural and urban space modelling. The School’s current research covers topical themes in architecture, urban planning and urban studies. The different research groups share interests in sustainable built environment and the social significance of space and are open to new techniques of analysis and design. Housing design is one of our key areas of research and education.
We are inviting applications for one (1) tenure track position in the field of Architecture with a special focus on Housing Design.
We are looking for candidates with solid research and design expertise related to housing design. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of national legislation and regulations related to housing design, the processes and methods of housing design as well as the current phenomena and challenges in the field.

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ).
The advertised position is typically placed on the job demand level 6 (Assistant Professors) or level 7 (Associate Professor). In addition, employees receive performance-based salary and are covered by TUT’s bonus system.
The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a trial period of four months.
The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of four years. The appointment is expected to begin on 1 August 2018 or as mutually agreed.
TUT’s tenure track system is a four-stage career path leading to a full professorship.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to a personal interview with the Tenure Track Working Group and to an aptitude assessment. Appointees to the rank of Associate Professor will also undergo a review of their pedagogical competencies and scientific merits by external experts.
