The Faculty of Engineering Sciences is the only purely technology-oriented faculty at Tampere University of Technology. The Faculty offers high-quality education leading towards bachelor's, master's and postgraduate degrees. The Faculty administers one bachelor's degree programme, three master’s degree programmes that are conducted in Finnish, two international master's degree programmes, and one doctoral programme.
Laboratories in the Faculty include the Laboratory of Automation and Hydraulics, the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Systems, and the Laboratory of Materials Science. In addition to the high-level basic research in the fields of the laboratories, the Faculty is famous of its strong collaboration with industry.
The Faculty of Engineering Sciences offers 11 research assistants (summer training) positions to work in Faculty's research groups.
Laboratory of Automation and Hydraulics (AUT): Automation and Information Networks, Automation Software, Factory Automation, Image Based Measurements, Measurement Information, Personal Positioning Algorithms, Process Automation
Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Systems (MEI): Machine Design and Product Development, Manufacturing and Automation, Life-Cycle Management of Machines (especially condition monitoring, reliability, PLM-systems) Mechatronics (especially underwater and aerial robotics), Industrial Internet Applications
Laboratory of Materials Science (MOL): Materials Science, Materials Characterization, Plastics and Elastomer Technology, Metals Technology, Surface Engineering, Ceramic Materials, Paper Converting and Packaging, Tribology and Machine Elements
The positions require successful university studies in fields that are relevant to the research area in question, as well as eagerness to learn more. Previous experience in laboratory research environment will be appreciated.
The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff the position of a Research Assistant is placed on the job demands level 1. In addition, employees receive performance based salary, which for Research Assistants is based on study credits.
The positions will be filled on a fixed term basis (3 months), starting in May/June 2018.
