The successful candidates appointed to the position of university teacher and university lecturer, respectively, will educate future professionals on TUT’s vibrant campus. We have modern teaching and research facilities and encourage employees to actively seek professional growth, among others, by attending the pedagogical training programmes available at TUT.
The responsibilities of the successful candidates will include teaching and research. They are also participating to administration and the development of education. The teaching personnel is expected to supervise students writing bachelor’s theses and master’s theses. The background of the successful candidates may be taken into consideration in the assignment of their specific teaching areas.
In addition, the candidate appointed as university lecturer will participate in providing supervision to doctoral students working on their dissertations, assume an active role in processes concerning theses commissioned by companies, and promote the integration of research and teaching.
Proficiency in Finnish and English is required to provide high-quality education and academic supervision to students who are working on their theses within our international campus community.
We expect the candidate appointed as university teacher to hold an applicable higher university degree and possess good teaching skills. We especially appreciate broad expertise in the field of the position, research experience, pedagogical merits, and the ability to produce teaching materials and use versatile teaching methods.
We expect the candidate appointed as university lecturer to hold an applicable doctoral degree and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality, research-based education and supervise students working on their theses. When evaluating the qualifications of candidates, we will consider their scientific or artistic track record and, if necessary, their practical experience in the field of the position, as well as teaching experience, pedagogical merits, the ability to produce teaching materials, and other teaching qualifications. We appreciate experience of working abroad in scientific or artistic fields and a proven track record of international collaboration.
The successful completion of tasks requires also good organizational and co-operation skills. Furthermore, we expect candidates appointed to a teaching-oriented position to have completed a minimum of 10 credits of pedagogical studies intended for university teachers or other equivalent studies. If the successful candidate has not completed these studies when they join the Laboratory of Mathematics, they will be expected to complete the studies within two years after the beginning of the employment relationship.
|Salary:||Salaries are based on job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, university teachers are placed on the job demand levels 5-6 and university lecturers on levels 6-7. In addition, employees receive performance-based salary.|
|Trial period:||The appointment is subject to a trial period of four months.|
|Other:||The position is filled on a permanent basis. The expected start date is 1 June 2018, or on a date mutually agreed upon between the parties.|
