University Lecturer (Factory Automation and Industrial Informatics)

FAST-Lab. is a research group of the Automation and Hydraulics unit (AUT) at the Faculty of Engineering Science with the ultimate objective of seamlessly integrating knowledge of humans and machines, creating smart environments by capitalizing the advances on Information and Communication Technologies in the context of Factory Automation.
Job description: The selected person will be responsible for updating, implementing, and maintaining our courses in Distributed Intelligent Automation and Industrial Informatics.

The selected person is especially expected to ramp up teaching and research activities in areas of emerging trends, e.g. Cloud Robotics and Automation and Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems in the context of Industry 4.0.

Teaching will be the main priority of this position, but the position will also require active involvement in implementing the strategy of the research group. For example, this will be implemented by participating in creation and implementation of international research projects in the field.
Requirements: We are looking for candidates with a Doctor Degree (Technology) in Automation, Robotics, Informatics or related area with expertise in automation and robotics. The candidate should have good understanding of modelling discrete event dynamic systems and programming in the context of factory automation.

The successful candidate must possess the competence to provide high-quality research-based education and supervise theses.
When a candidate’s qualifications for the position are evaluated, the following will be considered:
- previous scientific work
- practical experience in the field of the position
- teaching experience and pedagogical merits
- the ability to produce teaching materials
- other qualifications related to teaching

Previous experience of conducting scientific work abroad and a record of achievement regarding international collaboration will be appreciated.

The successful candidate must have completed at least 10 credits worth of studies in higher education pedagogy or an equivalent field. If the successful candidate has not completed such studies by the time the employment begins, the studies must be completed within two years after the beginning of the employment. TUT provides pedagogical training for teachers as part of the University's staff training scheme.
Salary: The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a University Lecturer is placed on the job demands levels 6-7. In addition, employees receive performance based salary.
Trial period: Trial period of four months applies.
