Tenure track in Cyber Security

Pursuing excellence, The Faculty of Computing and Electrical Engineering is an international, diverse and multidisciplinary community of researchers and students. The topical research covers the essential ingredients of building the future digital society with solutions that are groundbreaking and designed understanding the human needs. The outcome of the basic research in software design and systems, signal processing, communications engineering and networking, computer science, electrical engineering, and power engineering finds its applications in many forefronts of society, ICT, industrial intelligent machines, healthcare, consumer solutions and so forth. We are ready to look beyond the obvious next step.

The position will be placed in the Laboratory of Pervasive Computing, which is a fostering multinational academic unit with strong research and education competence in the areas of computer and software engineering and networking. A notable part of education in MSc level is given in English. A distinctive feature of the laboratory is that it has wide-spread impact on the community through industrial and research cooperation.

Job description: Applications are invited for a tenure track position in the broad area of cyber security technologies. The focus can be in software security, hardware security, critical systems security or network security. Candidates considered for this tenure track position are expected to have research experience in one or more of the aforementioned areas.

Today, security is an essential ingredient of all information systems. Due to the complexity of the systems, and flaws in the design of the present-day Internet and the web, as well as weaknesses in the development methodologies, software design and tools, large-scale systems face risks due to cyber criminals and other malicious actors. The security related research in the laboratory currently includes topics in side-channel analysis, vulnerabilities in open-source software, security issues in IoT and SDN and network security in general.

Based on the experience and competence, the successful candidate will be placed at the level of Assistant Professor (1st term or 2nd term) or Associate Professor.

Trial period: The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a trial period of four months.
Other: Our aim is to have the selection process completed by the end of December 2017. The expected start date is from February 2018 onwards as mutually agreed upon by both parties.

The positions of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor will be filled for a fixed-term period. The length of the fixed-term period will be based on the University’s tenure track system.
