|Job description:||We are looking for a Research Assistant (MSc thesis work) for the Photonic Glasses Group. The work will focus on the fabrication and characterization of active glass-ceramics which will be drawn into fibers. The candidate is expected to collaborate not only with members of the ORC but also be willing to travel, as needed, to meet and work with international partners in France and Italy. The candidate will gain expertise not only in glass science but also in fiber technology.|
The applicant should have completed a BSc and be currently finishing the MSc studies at TUT in a field relevant to the research area, e.g. photonics or materials engineering. A background in glass science is an advantage. Good English language skills (oral and written) are essential. Ability to work, cooperate and communicate in a multicultural team and to interact with research partners is important.

|Salary:||The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a Research Assistant is placed on the job demands level 1. Research Assistants salary is based on study credits.|
|Trial period:||The position is subject to a trial period of three months.|
|Other:||The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of 6 months. The commencement date will be 1 January 2017, unless otherwise agreed.|
