Position description: To manage all activities necessary to produce products in a safe and efficient manner. To meet safety, quality, customer service and delivery targets. To ensure the site has the right resources to achieve an efficient production operation and to develop leadership and competencies within the team. To drive continuous improvement, and to ensure optimum utilization of all equipment and personnel in the Bethune Advanced Liquid Technologies manufacturing operation.
Main responsibilities Oversees the manufacturing operations of the production operation, implementing efficient manufacturing methods including process control measurements and setups, utilizing knowledge of product design and scheduling, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, quality control and shipping requirements, to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan in order to maximize the production efficiency of the facility.

Knows, understands, follows, supports, develops and implements all local Health, Safety, and Environment laws/regulations, ISO 9001 and OSHAS 18001 standards and other Company standards applicable to the job function, and to ensure direct reports observe and follow these laws, regulations, and standards.

Schedules and coordinates production activities with the Maintenance and Shipping Departments, optimizing production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.

Assists Company officials and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position, and the profitability of the operation.

Achieves optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.

Responsible for the training, development, and performance evaluations of the production staff, with corrective action taken as necessary, and on a timely basis, in accordance with Company policies.

Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., safety, quality, continuous Improvement, productivity, training,housekeeping cleanliness, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, morale, etc.).

Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems, following up with corrective action plans.

Manages departmental performance measures, maintains raw material and stock inventories, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to the Plant Manager.

Actively leads and participates in the continuous improvement process. Incorporates continuous improvement/ Lean methodologies into manufacturing systems and operations.

Utilizes continuous improvement tools and methodologies to identify and reduce time losses, material losses and on-value activities.

Supports and assists troubleshooting and ensures root cause analysis is completed utilizing tools such as Pareto, 5 Why and 4M.

Remains up-to-date with new equipment, processes, materials and procedures to assist in advancing the site’s converting technology and capabilities.

Possesses a broad understanding of Company products and delivery schedules.

Represents the company in a professional, ethical and moral manner at all times.

Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in textiles, business or industrial engineering

Minimum of Five (5) years experience in film converting, paper converting or textiles, either weaving or knitting.

Three to five years experience supervising and directing a workforce of sixty (60) or more employees.

Must have working knowledge of Human Resources, Quality Control, Maintenance functions and advanced computer knowledge.

A thorough knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, and trends affecting equipment.

A thorough knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 concepts.

Excellent professional, written and verbal communication skills

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and statistical skills.

Experience and proven success collaborating in a team-based environment.

High level of initiative and independence in managing responsibilities.

Systematic decision making and implementation.

Physical Demands:
The employee possesses the ability to sit, stand, walk, have hand and finger dexterity, talk, and hear.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing 50+ pounds.

The employee must have the ability to work in a hot or cold environment in a manufacturing production setting, with exposure to
working near moving mechanical parts.

The employee must have the ability to travel for training, including international travel as required by the position.

The employee must have the ability to travel overnight as required by the position.

The employee must have the ability to work on elevated platforms or surfaces.

The employee possesses the ability to be on call 24/7 and / or to report to the plant as needed.
